Uploading Your Site
File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
FTP settings for every FTP program can't be listed here, this is
general information you'll need to connect via FTP to our servers.
Note: If you are on a closed network (i.e. not connected via a modem),
please contact your network administrator to ensure you can transfer
files using FTP.
- Host Name / Address: www.yourdomain.com
- Use the username and password for FTP you were provided in the
setup information you received by email
- Any other settings will normally not need to be changed in the
FTP program.
- After connecting, you will need to be in the /html directory
to upload web content.
- Users of the Windows servers may upload their files into the
root directory of their login
Microsoft FrontPage
The prompts will vary from version to version slightly, the steps
are generally the same. We assume you have FrontPage installed and
working correctly.
It is good practice to create all the content locally on your computer,
then publish via FrontPage to your webserver.
- In Explorer view, choose File/Publish web. As soon as you
have done this, you will see a dialogue box which asks you where
you want to publish to:
If you have published anything before, you will see those addresses
waiting for you to choose them again. If you haven't published
before, click on Options .
Before doing that, though, make sure that the 'Publish changed
pages only" box is not selected.
- If you are doing a remote publish, you will have to enter
the URL of the server you are publishing to, and the directory
you want to put your site into.
If you are not sure what the address is, your service provider
will give you these details, once entered then click OK.
- You then should be prompted for a username and password, enter
the username and password you were assigned and click OK
- Your site should begin uploading to your web server.
