Posted by Administrator in : Internet and Business, Web Design , 1 comment so far

Joomla! is a free open source framework and content publishing system designed for quickly creating highly interactive multi-language Web sites, online communities, media portals, blogs and eCommerce applications. The stable Joomla 1.5 version is here, now. Find out about getting your site upgraded to Joomla 1.5 Stable release.

Joomla! provides an easy-to-use graphical user interface that simplifies the management and publishing of large volumes of content including HTML, documents, and rich media. Joomla! is used by organizations of all sizes for Public Web sites, Intranets, and Extranets and is supported by a community of thousands of users.
With a fully documented library of developer resources, Joomla! allows the customization of every aspect of a Web site including presentation, layout, administration, and the rapid integration with third-party applications.

Joomla! has a rich heritage and has been crowned CMS king many times over. Now with more power under the hood, Joomla! is shifting gear and provides developer power while making the user experience all the more friendly. For those who always wanted increased extensibility, Joomla! 1.5 can make this happen.

A new framework, ground-up refactoring, and a highly-active development team brings the excitement of ‘the next generation CMS’ to your fingertips. Whether you are a systems architect or a complete ‘noob’ Joomla! can take you to the next level of content delivery. ‘More than a CMS’ is something we have been playing with as a catchcry because the new Joomla! API has such incredible power and flexibility, you are free to take whatever direction your creative mind takes you and Joomla! can help you get there so much more easily than ever before.

IE 8 Beta first peek March 6, 2008

Posted by Administrator in : Internet and Business, Web Design, Web Hosting , add a comment

ie8screenshot-start-web.png by virtue of having a VM XP machine, I installed the IE 8 Beta (hey, I have to peek sometimes) and the thumbnail will show you the first screen that appears in a successful installation. After following the prompts, I chose the custom setting, you’ll see this screen for a successful install. IE 8 Beta final screen of install More on this later, since it’s only a Beta now, DO NOT INSTALL on your workstation, it overwrites the IE7 that I had already. There are 5 different downloads, be sure to get the right one when you install (thank God for vmware workstation and my XP ‘test’ machine)

Realize the Benefits of Outsourcing Web Hosting Services Today November 13, 2007

Posted by Administrator in : Internet and Business, Web Design, Web Hosting , 4comments

Today, a Web site is part of a company’s identity, and having a
professionally planned, designed, implemented and supported web presence
is one of the important business initiatives now.
vDomainHosting is committed to our customers, and provides a wide range
of solutions for them.
Many companies initially try to establish and operate their own Web sites,
today; outsourcing has become the rule instead of the exception. The first
step is the domain name, then developing a strategy for that website, having
it built, beta tested, implemented and supported. Eventually most will add
ecommerce, security and marketing solutions, and all features that
vDomainHosting can provide.
Outsourcing will save businesses time and money and allow them to focus
on their business. Savings will occur in up front capital equipment costs,
planning and acquisition costs, maintenance and the eventual upgrades to
maintain levels of performance. Allowing these companies to have their
web presence running on secure networking, built with the best hardware
and software, using reliable and redundant infrastructure on high available
bandwidth.
Recognizing your outsourcing solution is a matter of just asking, and
through conversation identifies experienced quality service and the savings
realized as a result of partnering with that company.
Here is a cost comparison for Small Business Web Hosting:
Server Hardware: $1,500 to $4,000
Network Hardware: $2,500 to $4,000
Software: $200 to $1,000
UPS: $550 to $3,000
Maintenance: $1,625 to $3,000
Internet Connection: $1,200 to $14,400
IT staff: $70,000 per year
Up Front Costs: $6,500 to $12,000
Annual Recurring: $72,825 to $87,400
1st year costs: $79,325 to $99,400
With vDomainHosting Small Business Web Hosting, the above items are
included free except for up front costs and annual recurring costs. The
savings are obvious, and the time is now.

One more thing, quickly. The moral of the story is upgrade to IE7, Firefox, or Safari if you’re on windows. You have lots of choices, and IE6 is the worst possible one, so if your IE6 still, the wait is over, upgrade your browser to 2007.

Need to deploy a Sitemap on your website? April 5, 2007

Posted by Administrator in : Web Design, Web Hosting , add a comment

Sitemaps are an easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling. In its simplest form, a Sitemap is an XML file that lists URLs for a site along with additional metadata about each URL (when it was last updated, how often it usually changes, and how important it is, relative to other URLs in the site) so that search engines can more intelligently crawl the site.
I can create your XML file, and email it back to you for posting on your website OR with the FTP information I can upload the file for you.
